common.mk: cancel the blanket -Werror (keeping the explicit format-security and implicit-function-declaration errors) so pedantic warnings from system headers, like Clang's -Wc2y-extensions complaint about GLib's internal use of __COUNTER__, don't fail the build. src/util.c: GLib's win32 content-type sniffer returns the raw file extension (e.g. ".mp3") instead of a real MIME type whenever the extension has no Content Type registered in the Windows Registry, so the audio/video prefix check in search_directory() silently matched nothing and the library always came up empty. Add an extension-based fallback covering common audio/video formats. .gitignore: ignore the Windows .exe build output and the autoreconf backup file. |

budgie - Simple Media Player using GTK3.10 written in C
Modern, Lightweight and distraction free media experience.
See http://ikeydoherty.github.io/budgie/ for roadmap and features
Building from Source
First, make sure you have all dependencies installed.
On Ubuntu:
$ sudo apt-get install libgtk-3-dev xdg-user-dirs \
libgstreamer1.0-dev libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-dev \
libid3-dev libgdbm-dev gstreamer1.0-gtk3
To build:
$ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install
Notes
You must have xdg-user-dirs installed to currently use Budgie. This is merely because we use glib special directories to detect where you keep your music ($HOME/Music, but i18n capable)
Video playback embeds using GStreamer's gtksink/gtkglsink, which ships
in a separate plugin package (gstreamer1.0-gtk3 on Debian/Ubuntu).
Without it, video playback will fail at runtime.
If you install from source and not from a distribution package, please ensure you rebuild the glib schemas to prevent a startup crash:
$ sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas
